Music

The Atholl Heights music department is a vibrant and energetic department, whose happy sounds reverberate continuously around the school campus.  There are flamboyant and ever-popular percussion and marimba groups; and two dynamic choirs, ranging from grade 2 to grade 7.

Every facet of academic, social and spiritual music is encompassed in a variety of styles from Classical, Jazz and Pop. Recent developments in the Music Department include music and sound technology, a fore-runner amongst Primary schools. At Atholl Heights the music department is Simply the Best.

Drama

Atholl Heights offers a rich cultural curriculum and learners are given numerous opportunities to explore their creativity.

  • Grade R learners are renowned for their amazing concerts in the 4th term.
  • Grade 1 children entertain their parents and grandparents with a delightful annual concert for Grandparent’s Day.
  • Grade 2 learners show off their modeling, acting and singing skills at their annual Fashion Show.
  • Grade 2 and 3 children participate in a concert every 2nd year, alternating with the Senior Primary children.
  • Various children also take part in the Speech and Drama Festival every year reciting poems, prose etc.
  • Drama classes are included in the school timetable.

The ability to communicate orally and physically is one of the life skills taught through drama.  It also allows children to develop personal skills such as co-operating and working together as a team.

Our grade 7 learners hold a talent show at the end of each year. This gives junior and senior primary children a final opportunity to appear on stage.
